A Life of Service to Others

The thing about living A Life of Service to Others, particularly Public Service, particularly Customer Service, is you’re really not much of a people person anymore after you do it for 20 years and you just want to go the hell home at the end of the day and drink an espresso and read a book. And you don’t give much of a damn when girls cry anymore, because girls just do that. And you aren’t afraid to admit to yourself that some people you just f**king hate, and you’re okay with that. And you recognize that you actually Are Better Than Some People, not by virtue of race or entitlement or gender, but just because you’re not a flying asshole.
